Subject: RE: PM 1

I've successfully breadboarded a PM1 and used it on my BEAM-ant. However,
there are a couple of (bitter) experiences involved which I will happily
pass on to spare you the troubles.

I succesfully used two 4700uF 6.3v caps in parallel and had my ant kick a
bit.

What is important to notice is that the diode adds 0.7v to the trigger value
of the 1381. That is, if you've got a 1381J the actual triggerpoint would be
3.4 volt. This means that if you plan on using - say - a 1F gold cap with a
rating of 2.5 volt you would have to overcharge it quite a lot. There is a
good chance that this won't work as the cap will start to leak current which
means it probably will never reach the triggerpoint.

As of now, I am waiting for a 1381C (2.0v) for my PM1. This means that the
triggerpoint will be at 2.7v which is the same as a 1381J

Hope this hepls,

- Thomas
