You really don't want to use the LS. The HC or the AC work much better. As
for your lockup problem, have you got a schematic of the circuit as you've
built it? Sometimes it helps to troubleshoot if you draw out what you have
and then compare that to the schematic you got of Tilden's site. I know
that it helps me out.
