yeah...like how they say that if youre in a lightning storm you should drop
trou , and bend over......i doubt its true , but i know how bad getting 220+
volts herts....i got knocked off a 10 foot ladder instaling a fan....and i
might also give this advice: plug the tv in , turn the power on and unplugh
it...this always drained the curent for me so i can rip the fugger open...

btw: whats so bad about cathode ray tubes(crt)??

What gross injustice has been done on this list to deserve the denunciation
that you shoveled out? What have the hundreds done that is so horrible,
that we need to be subjected to your broad conclusions? I mean, come on!
They made a circuit that blinks a LED! Does that really deserve such stark
criticism? At the risk of sounding cliche', who made you (a newbie AFAICT)
ruler of the beam community?

The simple fact is, these circuits represent the person's best effort to
form something interesting. They've taken the time to work it out, so that
this little creation can do something that they find useful.

I looked through my deleted items, and came across some of the first
messages we received from you. It had to do with the "Almost Complete
Walker" circuit on Ian's page. You posted the question a few times, so I'm
assuming you spent a lot of time working out the bugs.

So what if I were to tell you that those stupid walkers are NOT robots?
They're worthless little circuits that that move two motors back and forth.
You didn't have to do any work, the chip maker did it all for you. They
don't even respond to feedback. All that's included in the circuit is ONE
sensor that let's the thing backup in a straight line. Ugh, when will these
idiots ever learn??? They're all fools. Spending their time making
walkers. The mere idea is laughable. Why don't we impose some rules where
no one can call these stupid things robots until they take $1200 to build
and get you into Smithsonian?

btw, in case you couldn't tell, that last paragraph was ALL sarcasm. I love
the ACW circuit. I've built a couple so far... I'm building one now. I've
also built a BEAMAnt that people really love to watch. People that I work
with ask me to bring it up so they can play with it. I'm talking 30
year-old men and women who in their fields could be called geniuses. And my
BEAMAnt never really worked the way it was supposed to. They've never seen
such neat little critters though, and they're genuinely impressed. They're
also begging me to bring one of my walkers up so they can see one. Why?
Because they can't see these things every day. They move in a truly
fascinating way. They're fun.

Every person on this list has something to say. Look at their robots, and
you can see them. It's not about furthering science as we know it, at
least, not to me. I want to make robots. Little critters that resemble
bugs. Stuff that I can't go out to the store and buy. I don't know why, I
just do.

Please, don't take that away from me.

I am a little disappointed in Beam community. I just cant stand people are
calling a few blinking LED's a bot. Even a solaroller doesn't seem very
"bot" to me.

Maybe we should make some rules what is a bot and what not or even make
categories ranging from blinking LED's to 134562 motor walkers with
76437tons of electronics and are superior to humans.

I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but just want some quality in the
community.

I hope you all agree with me and forgive me if I made a fool out of you
because you just finished your garden blinking LED's.
