Hmmm... maybe the 33k resistor isn't properly connected, or is shorting
somewhere, or you have used a lower value instead.
Try disconnecting the 33k on the 'bad' side altogether and replacing it
with a 33k that you have measured to be 33k.
Also check where the 33k comes from: is it connected to the collector of
the NPN and also a motor terminal?
You say that the other side works perfectly?

trash; I mean, may be a calculator, or something. I want to use it for
a photopoper (the famouse Fred, dude), but i wonder which one will work
good.... may be a watch...
