I'm impressed, that is probably as simple and as good as you can get at the
same time! I'd like to hear more about how it looks and its behavior!

However, when I look at the weblog for it I find that it -is- being used,
probably as a reference. In a way, that is why I started it and the email
archive so I guess I'm reasonably happy. (The other reason was that I was
actively arguing with people on the list and got kicked off... I still
wanted a place where I could have my say.)

And finally, I've got a page on that site
(http://www.botic.com/~rincewind/) for which I'm quite thankful. Now I
just have to put some actual content on it! I'm about to buy an
oscilloscope (my birthday present to myself -- I'm 45 today) and I think
that will make a big difference.

This is basically just a hopper, vibe bot, or whatever
you want to call it. Many people have built one using
a solar engine that triggers a pager motor with the
weight left on. When the motor triggers, the offset
weight makes the bot vibrate all over the place. I
first saw one on Ian Bernstein's page and built one
for myself. For a description see the Solar Hopper
at:

13396 Thu, 13 Apr 2000 14:30:47 -0700 (PDT) Circuit Designing BEAM List Daniel Grace Fellow Beamers,

I really need help in the lab. I can build circuits
all day long, and have them work (eventually), and I'm
in an electronics class at school, and understand the
schematics. But, for some reason or another, I can't
design a single circuit! I've had a very simple idea
for a circuit for quite a while now, but I can't
design it quite right. I always run into one problem
or another. I was wondering if there's a place where I
can go on the web that can teach me how to design. I
can understand the circuits, I don't know why I can't
design them right. I've not looked at a circuit that
does what I want (I want to do this myself), cuz I
want to do it myself. Any ideas?

In the classroom I've learned about all the components
I think I will need, and more. A lot of times I can
find the problem, I just can't fix it. A lot of times
I have problems designing around the BE junction of
NPN transistors.

Anywho, any pointers?

~Daniel

caps, and the LED is in the light, but it is partly
coverey by black tape. I have no idea what the specs
on the motor are, I think it is prety un-efficent
though. (how do you figure out the specs on the
motor?)
Thanks,

Aaron

packaged beautifully. Hats off to solarobtics, excellent service :)
