Subject: My Nervous Head...

I finally built a PSH based on Wilf's Beam Head tutorial.

It uses the revised PowerSmarHead circuit v1.1, photo diodes, and an escap
motor.

Its really cool and it tracks light pretty well. However, it seems to
quiver quite a bit when it locks onto a light source, especially when a
sufficient amount of ambient light is present. My intent is to have the PSH
as sensitive as possible, possibly reacting to someone entering the room.
If I adjust the sensitivity pot to tune out the shakes, the head becomes
pretty unresponsive to its environment (in my opinion). Is there anything
else I can do?

One more question: Are LDRs more sensitive that PDs? I think I have read
threads before about using LDRs over PDs because they can detect changes in
light better than photodiodes. Does anyone know what the Billy Bass uses
for its motion detector? It can sense my presence from about 3 to 4 feet
away.

Don't worry, be happy.
Roy
