Hi Dave,
Not to dwell on the subject, but you are correct in your concept and
approach, at least from
my practical research on the subject...i.e., I survived two teen age boys!!
Weaned on CP/M, then
Comodore, Apple, ibm pc-jR. ETC..ETC. The young ones had the untarnished
ability to get
interested, explore concepts (even if they don't grasp the extent of it),
and then build on that
base for future success. (Oops, forgot to mention Atari!). I've lost that
ability, as an aged adult.
I question everything, and nothing seem as "Intuitive" as the ad copy says
it is!! If you're old enough to have been in the Vietnam war, you know what
i'm talking about. I question everything now, and want the underlying
concept/motive/whatever,
so some of the new software, (whatever) that requires open mind-blind faith,
etc. to operate...sends me to the
manual (if that even exists anymore...).
Sorry getting a little (ok a lot) off track here. The kids are out of the
nest and
I'm a hundred years older, but if you encourage them to "go for it!" they
will! Just caution every one about power supplies,
etc, that rely upon AC 120V, or power supplies without transformers. I use
an isolation transformer for most work, and
a Variac for dialing up special voltages, etc. Sorry, getting off track
again.
I fully support the idea of providing intelligent stimulation , and support
to the youngest among us. (someone's got to carry the load and I'll be too
tired by then!!;-)

Regards,

Joe
