No, I don't know of a smaller cap, but you are thinking in the right
direction. If you can't fit it inside, think of a way to add it on the
outside that is aesthetically pleasing. Perhaps it could stick out of the
back of the bot through a hole drilled in the plastic. This could be
waterproofed with the right sized rubber grommet. Two caps attached to the
back could look like a back pack of sorts. Three, as you say, placed
symmetrically around the bot could work and retain a visual balance. The
possibilities are endless. Another idea could be to search the electronics
suppliers for button caps or some other compact storage device.
See ya,

circuit. Charge the capacitor to the trigger voltage value. Now stick
a little paper flag to the motor shaft. Connect the capacitor to the
motor. Does the flag show a few revolutions? If yes, the motor size is
OK. If you still see just a tick/flick from the flag, try increasing
the capacitor value till the motor starts taking a few turns. Now when
you assemble the SE, you may have to take into consideration the load
you will be putting on the motor (shaft) as that can again reduce the
movement.

my favorite method is going to the hobby store (the one that supllies RC
plane stuff) and getting whats called "Heavy Duty E/Z Connectors"
they look a lot like the "terminal blocks" of some veterans use, but a lot
more durable, and clothes hanger wire just fits em.
also, the can be drilled out to accecpt 1/8 welding rod very nicely.
picture and parts number available upon request,
