Subject: [alt-beam] Conductive Epoxy?
Greetings List,
It's been a while, I haven't been posting much but I assure you I've been
ghosting. This is just about as active as I've seen the list be in some
time...must be that Smithonian article.
Anyway, on to the real deal. I've heard many BEAMers recommend encasing
finished circuits in epoxy and I am planning to do so on this free-formed
"fang-avore" circuit I just finished (yes, yet another! ;).
I decided to pull out my multimeter and measure how resistant my epoxy
was. You know, to make sure I don't pour on something that'll short the whole
thing out. Well, It doesn't really conduct...but it doesn't provide much
resistance either. It was at about .78 Mohms.
How did I test that? I took two metal leads, stuck one end of each in a
blob of the epoxy, let it dry, and measured the resistance between the two
leads. The leads were about 3 mm away from touching.
So, is that not enough resistance? Or can I pour it on? Thanks.
