Subject: [alt-beam] Re: Sold Out, and a note on selling things on the list. Two sets of omron gearmotors for sale.

For anyone who was interested, the great Omron Gearmotors have been spoken
for. When I get more of them, I'll let you know.

As a side comment, I want to address the issue of selling items on the BEAM
list. When listing an item for sale on the list, people tend to feel guilty
because in a way it's grossly capitalistic. In light of recent fears of
irrelevant e-mails I would like to address the issue of selling through the
beam list first. I am in support of using the list to sell various items
like gearmotors, or kits and hextiles. It gives beamers a chance to
transfer their resources. Its a good thing for the list, and not just
because I happen to be selling either. I've purchased things from off the
list that I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. So have many other
people. I know there is a 'trading post' somewhere, but it's not frequented
very often, and not too many people know about it. (I don't even know the
address or if it's still up). While you could reserve sales to something
like the trading post the fact is, it will be overlooked. Just like the
multitude of tutorials and help pages are when someone sends a "my SE
doesn't work" message to the list. As it is, occasional postings wouldn't
pose a problem, and are helpfull to the BEAM community. As it stands, I
approve of the use of the list for people to sell small BEAM related items
they have on the list. (A clear distinction about what is and is not beam
related can easilly be drawn here) I think it's a good thing.
