Subject: [alt-beam] Two FREDs
All,
I just made another FRED, this time I used a 2200 uF cap instead of a 0.047
F like last time. I have to say that in low light the smaller cap is a
clear winner. In a race to the light from 20 cm, the smaller one got there
in half the time! 'Old' FRED took giant strides, but sometimes the steps
were too big and he overshot and had to circle round again to find the
light.
I suspect that in brighter light the searching might be a bit erratic
because the cap is charging up quicker - and the FLEDs flash with a set
frequency. I'll have to have a race in broad daylight to see what happens
then. I also angled the FLEDs down, not up, so the new one should avoid
shadows better than the old one.
I haven't really had much experience with robots interacting, but with these
two battling it out under the desk lamp it just makes me want to make more!
MORE MORE I say!
I took some pictures at each stage of development so hopefully others will
be able to make FREDs with a minimum of fuss. I'll get the tutorial up by
the end of the week.
Just had to share this with the group!
Ben
