Yep -- alt-beam is primarily an archive. There are about 80 people
directly subscribed to it, but it IS NOT the primary emailing list (which
is sent to everyone as well as alt-beam). Stuff sent to alt-beam stays
-there- and is NOT transmitted to the primary list.

In spite of what the "info" file says for beam@sgiblab.sgi.com there is NO
such newsgroup -- any work towards making such a beast obviously fell by
the wayside a LONG time ago. For what it is worth, even if there were such
a thing, I rather doubt that the Powers That Be would allow a
"sci.robotics" branch when there is already a "comp.robotics" branch --
even if BEAM doesn't depend on computers. Oh well... B-}

p.s. the info file has a fair number of other inaccuracies as well but no
one ever seems to take the time to fix them. If you really want to see the
info file, send a message to majordomo@sgiblab.sgi.com with the following
two lines

info beam
end

in the message body (the message doesn't need a >Subject:, btw).

what circuit are you using, or better yet, what tutorial), or if you are
using the 1381J, bump it down to a 1381 C or B. Good Luck!
