Well, if I remember right, the diode adds about .7
volts to the trigger voltage. (someone please correct
me if I'm wrong) I know that's what happened to the
PM1 variant that I used on my beamant. Try hooking it
up to a test cap that can handle a higher voltage, and
use higher voltage solar panels. If the SE triggers
with that, then you can bet that's where your problem
is coming from.

chip equivalents to the -240 etc. and have them operate the same? I
realize that it will "depend" on the circuit of course, but in general, how
important is it to use the correct version. (I'm asking cause I'm cheap
and have a few non-inverting ICs like -241s, -244s, -541s, I'd like to
screw up first during the learning phase :)
