Hi BEAMers,
Well here's my 2 cents...The problem will solve its'self. The Robotic Gods,
are already doing private e-mail among themselves. The rest of us can wade
through and delete items that are not of interest. If we are making 6
figures per year, and want to glean new ideas from the list, we'll hire
someone to do so.
Even Newbie questions can sometimes shed light on a new sub-subject (that's
good!). i.e.,I never thought of piano wire sold in big reels...always
thought it came in straight pieces
36" long at your local hobby shop!!! But then...I never worked on pianos.
I'm on two e-mail lists (as is another member of this list, whom I admire)
On the other list, Newbies get a lot of TLC, and
careful patience! The reason...some circuits (Tube Audio, music
reproduction) range from 300V to 1,800 V, and it is actually possible to
cremate one's self while leaning over the workbench! Therefore passing info
to a Newbie takes on a little more serious aspect. The "other list" has a
number who digress into everything from their Doggies, cars, love life, etc.
etc., and I find it revealing and most friendly in nature. So I (not being a
GOD) enjoy the aspect of personality shown, however, I never flip off other
drivers
who offend everyone in traffic...(and wading through 200 e-mail/day, is
still within my tolerance levels. ;-) The basic thing is that you folks
work with 3 to 7 volts, and you can be a little crass with the new kids, and
not kill anyone .(you all do use isolation trannies from the wall
socket...don't you??) So, I think it's important to mentor and coach the
newbies...maybe someday I'll achieve the capability to do some on one list
or the other...? On the newbie's end of the deal, RESEARCH before going
e-mail. Your question has already been answered (maybe a couple times) so
look it up anywhere/everywhere. On the other hand, If you are from Romania,
you may not have a Radio Shack or Digikey address at hand. My other "List "
has about 300 members all around the world!
Pet pevees: ASCI ART. Save your schematic. Mention that it's available,
those interested can e-mail you and just send it as a medium compression
JPEG file to that person(s), and save bandwidth for the others who don't
care to see it. If you love ASCI art, tell us if it's Sanscrit, fixed
spacing, circa 1400 Thailand, or whatever, then we had better be able to
make sense out of it or you are dead meat.
