I agree with Tim. Starting a new list wouldn't solve much( I don't
think so ) because alot of us perstering newbies would folow. I'ts kind
of hard asking for advice or help throuhg a problem when posting to
youre peers. And if you have to much mail to wade through - ignore the
things that don't pertain to you. (lord knows we've all come home to a
couple hundred mesages and deleted all but a few). And I for one am
interested in hearing about "advanced" topics and I'll admit to having
little to no electronics know-how. In short interesting is interesting.

As a side note-------have you all noticed how much activity this topic
has received, sheesh!

12092 Sat, 18 Mar 2000 18:17:00 EST [alt-beam] Bicore/Reverser Q's beam@sgiblab.sgi.com BUDSCOTT@aol.com Well, I won't drabble on this time and just get to my questions so here they
are!

Q:I want to make my walker bicore phototrophic, if i make a 6 nv net with the
front nv's directly influenced by light, like the head circuit, and connect
them with some buffering resistors to the other nv's to prevent to much
influence on the gate, will that work well?

Q:How do i incorperate the 74xxx240 signal reverser into a bicore, do i just
hook up that 240 chip like a motor driver where it says input/output?

ThAnKs for your time! c'ya

I don't know what's up there. You ought to recheck the circuit as it sounds
like a triggering problem. Other than that I can say that the PM1 circuit
for somereason tends to be buggy. I've had a little trouble with it myself,
and others have complained. Things like high quality solar engines, (Which
the PM1 is) tend to have narrow component tolerances and a very picky nature
to them.

dennison

I just finished a bot using the unicore circuit. It works really well from
a power supply, but I can't seem to get the PM1 SE working properly. It
uses all the same values as on BEAM-Online, but I used the TRZVN2106 from
solarbotics instead of the 2N7000, a 0.33F gold cap, a 1381 J, and two
24x33mm solar cells in parallel.

The cap charges past 2.7V, and keeps going to about 3.3V. At that point I
stopped it since the cap is only rated at 2.5V and it obviously wasn't going
to trigger anyway. The cap was also a little warm, but only slightly.

I've checked the circuit and everthing appears to be right. One thing I
wasn't sure of though is the diode. Is that a signal diode or a reguler
diode? I used a signal diode cause that's all I had anyway.

Oh, all the components are brand new except the diode and the cap.

Thanks in advance

Chris
