I have used the S3001 a lot for other projects and I like them a lot. They
have ball bearings in them so they really last. Modifications are simple. I
make one mod. to them to make them smaller. I cut away most of the case so
that the motor is mounted to a platform which is screwed to the gear box
cover. Use a #2 x 3/16" screw to remount the cover and they will still have
the factory mounting flanges on them.
The model you have should work just fine for this application. My walker is
made with futaba servo's and H-bridge motor drivers (I ripped out the guts and
put a .1uf cap across the motor leads). It will walk right off the edge of any
table with the greatest of ease.
