Subject: [alt-beam] High Tourq Low voltage geared motors

I stumbled across some nice gear boxes and motors
the other day, they are used in BBQ rotisseries and
are powered by a single D (1.5v).

One weekend we had 3 rotisseries each with 2 large
roasts gueistimating about 2kg total, the spits were run
for a total of around 6 hours and still seem to have
enough grunt for another BBQ.

they don't turn that fast but they have a lot of torque
im about to pull one apart to see what the gears are like
the unit is fully self contained in a box that measures
65mm X 105mm X 45mm this includes the storage for
the 1.5V D cell.

have not managed to get a current consumption yet
as the meter probes will not fit into the battery compartment
but if any one interested I will post the details as soon as I
find out.

cost were about $25.00 NZ each, that's about
$15.00us I think.

Regards
Andrew
