Does anybody know of a web page that might have some info or tutorials?

Hi Spencer,m
Check out my site under photovores for a bot called Scarlet. Also check out
Adaptobotics.com. I don't know of any tutorials but schematics with differing
component values are all over the place. Beam Heretics also has an archive of
the circuit with the original Tilden sketch. Also there's some info at BEAM
Online.

See ya,

None that I've seen. They use really flat, and wide motors for the main disk
rotor, and a stepper for the wand with the reader/recorder device on it.

put the "A" in BEAM! i wish i had that artistic ability looks really cool!

10975 Sun, 27 Feb 2000 16:39:16 -0700 [alt-beam] Schematics beam@sgiblab.sgi.com Flaming Headphones Hi all,
OK, I'm just working on my third bot, a "Chiu Photovore." Anyway I
breadboarded the circuit, but it didn't go. I worked and worked and
worked, until I looked at the pics on his site. My 3906's were in
backwards. So I've fixed that now, and it works, but my question is
this: On a schematic, which of the leads is the emitter and which is the
collector? The base is pretty obvious, and I thought that the other 2
were as well, but I was wrong. Here's how I'm reading it right now: If
the arrow is pointing in, like on the 3906, it's the collector. If it's
pointing out, like on the 3904, it's the emitter. Is that correct? This
is really weird, because when I boarded it reading this way, I got the
3904s right but the 3906's wrong.... So I'm afraid to start soldering
until I get it sorted out.

TIA,
Mike, AKA Flaming Headphones

MPJA (Martin P. JOnes and Associates) is selling pager motors for 3.95$,
and gearmotors for 7$. You can order a catalog off thier website.
They also have many things BEAMers want. Check 'em out at: www.MPJA.com

BEAM.

The side with the arrow is the emitter. Always. Transistors do work
backwards (collector and emitter reversed) but not very well as you found
out.

Nice to find someone in area.

Find any good BEAM suppliers, or clubs, in the city so far?

Later,
Dave
