Chiu used little collars which he removed from terminal blocks.
Basically a little metal (plated brass) block with a hole through it and
a screw. Solder the leg onto the outside of the collar, slide it onto
the motor shaft, and tighten the screw to lock it in place.

I've tried that method and it's good an solid, but my motor shafts are
either too small or too big, so I'm manufacturing my own.

Some people have soldered directly to the shaft, but I REALLY don't like
to do that -- too many things inside the motor to melt/burn.

Anything that works?

Sparky has used aluminum angle. Chiu used jumbo paperclips. I've seen
coat hanger wire, and thin fiberglass sheet. Steve bolt often uses PCB
material as part of his frames. A couple of people have used carbon
fibre, but it's difficult and dangerous to work with. Plastic,
sometimes. You name it, and someone's made something from it.

Personally I'm partial to brass. It's heavy and expensive (I salvage
most of mine), but it solders well and machines like a dream.

umm ... What in HECK are you going to shove around with that kind of
current, Jim?

The H-bridge circuit I use is a 6 transistor job that uses a pair of
low-power, general purpose transistors (2N3906 or 2N3904) to drive 4
other transistors. I've successfully used transistors up to 800 mA for
the 4 "others", but I don't know for sure that you could go up to 5
amps.

I'll look into it a bit. Meanwhile, anyone else out there ....?

I doubt it. While it might not be nueral nets, (I forget the speicifc
terminologies) anything 'extra' about ourselves, is probably just our
huburus. Sum of our parts.
