My father is a construction worker, and I am wondering what the heck all
this 'argon' business is about. The thing about most welders is what you are
welding. With MIG's, you need spectial wire and Argon for welding
alluminium, but for normal welding you generally use the cheaper wire and
very cheap CO2 (Carbon dioxide).
Migs use the gas to protect the weld as it is being made, so they cannot be
used outdoors (not a real problem), Arc welders use Rods, which cost, and
you need different ones for different metals.
Preferably I would use MIG, but that is just my humble opinion,
hope to enlighten some,
Seamus
