All I would have to say is make sure there's a fund raiser before you
tell them robotics requires thought. Hey, it's more money for your bots
:)

Actually, I've got some very nice gearmotors rated at 12 volts / 60:1
gear ratio. They have a no-load speed of around 50 RPM.

Now, these things run (with nice torque) with a 3 volt supply, and a
loaded speed of 10 RPM.

SO ... don't make too many broad assumptions. With high quality
gearmotors, you can often run them at much lower voltages then they are
rated for, with a corresponding reduction in speed.

The moral is: if you have the money, buy one and try it. Or better yet,
ask on this list if anyone has tried the same gearmotor and what their
experience was.

Bruce

Let me get this straight, you'd like to start a server on the internet
dedicated only to robotics..BEAM in particular? Do you mean that robotics
websites that are currently hosted under geocities or other free webhosts
would be then hosted under this new server? I'm afraid I don't know exactly
what you mean or what advantages this would have to the status quo.

I'm not exactly sure what you hope to accomplish but if you need my help, I
am fairly skilled in Perl/CGI, also HTML [but who isn't these days..] If that
would come in handy, just buzz me at turtletek@aol.com.
