Hi,
I've had a brief look at the Bicore Photovore you are talking about but
thought it'd be a bit overkill for my second robot. I found the BEAM-ant
cirquit which is a little less complex. I'm on freeforming it underneath a
3733 solarcell at the moment. The BEAM-ant runs both motors simultaneously,
and has tactiles for reversing one or both motors at a time. Apart from that
it doesn't use motordrivers. I haven't had a chance to breadboard the Bicore
Photovore, but there's no doubt that it has to be made at some point.
For a great schematic and component breakdown etc. etc. you might want to
have a look at

Depending on your whereabouts in the world you can substitute both the
2N3904 and the 2N3906 transistors with comon pnp/npn transistors. I've
succesfully replaced them with BC547/BC327's
Cheers,
Thomas
