Just a little idea......
Smashing with a hammer? Just how would that work? Wouldn't you squish
the shaft? You could just try the slow and steady way.

This involves taking the flat slide of the weight and using a file to,
well, file it down.
Just keep that up until halve of the weight is gone and it falls off/

Sure but, I don't think you will need to worry about heat much in BEAM apps.
Maybe motor drivers, I wouldn't worry about a popper, or a bicore.

Epoxy is sold in a variety of set up times, from 5 minutes to about half an
hour. I would recommend 5 minute epoxy, sold in syringe tubes. You can
find epoxy in any hobby shop or in hardware stores. Something much more
quick (and less messy) is something called CA ( short for Cynnoacrylic)
glue. It's superglue with a bit more holding power then what you buy in
department stores. Generally only hobby shops sell the.

Yes and no, I think silicone will work, but my experience with silicon glues
is that they don't stick well to some surfaces, and tend to peel off.
