I doubt that will be a problem for the chips. I have routinely
produces surface mount boards with very unforgiving DSP chips in a toaster
oven. (BTW solder paste is a great invention!) I also use a toothbrush
and 409 cleaner. It cuts through the organic flux like a charm. You can
also just but the no-clean(tm) solder. This is the solder that, as the
name implies, needs no cleaning. There are many companies that use this
for this reason, and not just the low tech companies. This solder is not
pleasing to look at, and can be cleaned, but for proto'n it is fast and easy.
