You might want to look check out Lee Valley Tools at:

http://www.leevalley.com/woodwork/newprodu/apr98/magnets.htm#top

Many different sizes, with links to related accessories. The 6mm (1/4")
size cost 28 cents (US) each, as opposed to the 5 for $15 price on the
site that Sathe Dilip posted. The difference: chrome plating versus gold
plating.

Their home site is

from there you can find links for ordering (toll free numbers) or to
request a catalogue.

One thing that comes to mind is a "nut cracker", available from
automotive shops. It's designed to split open a hopelessley seized nut
-- it has an anvil on one side and a hardened wedge on the other. A
screw forces the wedge into the nut (or motor weight) and slowly splits
it open. It's really just a variation on the bolt cutter idea, but with
perhaps a little more control.
