Ok I have a theoretical question for anybody/everybody... say I have a motor
in my hand... how could/would I determine torque??? the only thing that
comes to mind is a spring scale and a leaver arm... is this truly
accurate??? is there a better way???

All,

I have built another robot around the FRED solar engine. You can see it at:
http://wollongong.apana.org.au/~ben/seaplane/index.html

It's another matchbox conversion, this time a little seaplane. It doesn't
move itself, but the propellor spins around in little jerks.

Also, I've updated the FRED schematic. It's attached to this message. The
changes from the last version are:

1) You can now add touch sensors to the robot.
2) The low light performance is improved even more.

It is important to note that the FRED SE still suffers from the full sun
lockup problem. If you do decide to build it, make sure that the FLEDs
aren't going to receive full sun on them (paint the top black, or shield
them underneath a solar panel, or put heatshrink around them). But, you
still have to let a bit of light in because that's the only way that the
robot will know where to go!

Ben

heheh!, and Kyle,

Since you went to all that trouble, I will try to duplicate your PSH
problems and give you the definite solution.

havin fun
