Subject: [alt-beam] Re: Back to the Hextiles, Formerally BEAM LEGO
Hey, that reminds me.
I just watched a show on Discovery last night that had Mark in it, and
lots of hextiles.
So, what I want to know is, does anyone produce/sell hextiles?
If not, are the PCB layouts, etc. available?
Because they sure look like fun to make robots with!

I have a couple of questions:
Is it necessary that the two 4.7uF caps be tantalum? I was using
electrolytic.
Also, is it OK to substitute other transistors as long as they're
standard PNP/NPN?
I decided to start over, too many wrong connections and the circuit was
too messy to restructure. But I learned from the experiece!

I would suggest dropping the LEGO reference and design the units to connect
in 3 dimensions. BEAM NV/NU cubes. Redundant connections could be provided on
each face of the cube to allow for 3 dimensional configurations. Nets could
then be constructed like molecular models.
See ya,

Check it out at:

The pictures are under my robotics section...
The movie hasn't been uploaded yet, because I ran out of web space.. I'll
apply for some more, and I'll have it uploaded soon.
