What if a cam turned against the base of the suction cup?
When the cup is placed on the surface the cam would be in halfway. Then the cam
could pull back to create suction and to release go all the way in expelling the
remaining air.
It seems a worm gear or a motor with a gearhead might be light enough yet give
enough torque. It would be slow, though.
