Subject: [alt-beam] Chirpping bots

THis idea of making your bots make noise is very cool.
I've already done this to some of my bots. Like on a
SE instead of a motor I used a buzzer from a pager.
It's kinda of annoying but it gets me just in the
morning for school. I also used a oscillator buzzer
instead f a light on one of my pummers. Sounds like a
cricket at night. IT would cool to see if someone
could make a small flock of bots that could some how
communicate to each other using sound.

Possible?

Nope. I just devised the counter idea, and the idea for a standard or
specification so a bunch of these things made by different people could
all interact.

Actually, Lotus's chirper circuit is too sophisticated for this
application (at least for now). The multiple chirps would fool the
counter circuit into thinking one robot was several.

If this basic idea evolves as I think it might, the complex chirper
circuit might actually be adapted to carry information.

Oh, it goes much further than that. Richard's idea is that they will
flock in reaction to the sound. You'll need sound AND video. My idea is
the sound and timing should be standardized. Get 40 or 50 BEAMers
together at the BEAM games in Calgary next summer, each with half a
dozen HPV's. 300 small robots nattering away and crowding around each
other. SURE to attract attention :)

I would really like to see pictures , descriptions , etc. of your bots .
Going by their names they sound way cool !!!!
