Yep, works very well. I've fixed a couple of cells with those pin inserts. If
the pad pulls off all the way to the glass, make sure you can get the solder
to touch some of the gray substrate around the edges of the hole. The gray
stuff is the actual conducting material. If the pad pulls off and leaves the
gray stuff behind, your task will be easier.

"Window defroster paint" stuff. It's a small kit you can find at an
automotive store for repairing those defroster lines that are on the back
window of your car. It's conductive so just put a little on the place where
the pad was and place your wire on that. Add a little more of the stuff and
let dry. After it's dry cover over both pads with epoxy so they won't pull
off again.
Note for all: Once you've soldered wires to the pads of a solar cell it is =
a
GOOD idea to cover over the pads and a small area around them with epoxy or
hotglue. This will prevent the pads from getting pulled off in the first
place.
