Well, I was thinking of using a Pockmark, that is, a cap hooked in parallel
with the solar cell (that's the Pockmark) and this hooked to a NiCad via a
diode to protect the solar cell and the Nicad hooked to the power inputs of
the core. A large solar array of at least 6 volts @ say 50-100ma (perhaps two
of the 33x66cells from Solarbotics). The cap gives you a delayed response to
changes in light level. Or, you hook the Pockmark to the core directly (which
on Scarlet works fine, although I haven't let it run for extended periods)
and then hook a D1 or some other dark activated circuit to a separate cell to
charge the NiCad pack for shady and darker conditions. In bright sun the bot
runs directly off of the solar cell. The cap gives a cushion for small shady
spots, and in darker conditions the bot switches to the D1 power supply and
the NiCads. With the way the Unicore slows to a crawl in dark conditions a
bot configured this way could well run indefinitely light or dark. Or am I
missing some fundamental law of physics or something?
See ya,
Jim

4.8v, up to +0.3V higher (U-trigger)

that's right. Yes, I know it looks like "HOCKYRINK." Yup, only
2 vowels. Pronounciation? _SMITH_".

Ooh aah! Someone actually using the name I came up with for
something!
