Subject: [alt-beam] Solar PSHead project

ok y'all havn't heard much from you guys doin the project.
quite a few of you have written saying you have a battery version working.
Anyone have any luck with a solar engine?
as for myself i am gonna try anuther circuit.
I have Wilf's ver 1.1 breadboarded and it works just fine with an AC chip
and batteries. I'll attach a 1381"L" solar engine tonight and letcha know
if i get anything. All i have is some 4700uf caps though. my .33F is only
rated at 2.5V and my .047F caps are the "GC" series not the "AL" .
can you buy a 5V AL cap?
...oh well the GC series were pretty.

a few of you guys have also written me and said you have had trouble with
your head tracking your hand or an object. Well, if you don't have solar
power,
your head is probably not under a light bulb. Here is a message i wrote
to a friend a few days back on the subject:
-----------------------
as for the head following your hand or outside stimulus:
i figured out that the video footage available is with a SOLAR head, and
therefore the brightest light is DIRECTLY overhead. with an "eybrow like
structure or watever to shade the LDRs. When an object (such as your hand)
is in front of the LDRs the hand does not cast a shadow, but is ILLUMINATED
by the light above, being therefore brighter than the dull wall it is
staring at.
so:
unless you have a solar head, there is not much reason for your head to be
sitting directly under a bright light. And no way your hand will be
brighter than the light it is locked on to.
Also my LDRs are much to high on the "dome" , but as far as a beta
version goes, the little guy rocks! definatly!

hope this helps!
