Subject: [alt-beam] Question about photo detectors in 1381 based SE's

In all of the drawings I have seen of this SE the photo diodes are shown as
forward biased.

I always thought that these devices were usually used in the reverse biased
mode.

I just wondered about the reason for this.

Am I missing something here ?? or has my brain finally up and died :-)
