Yep, it's true that the popper can fire faster (especially with a larger
cell) under artificial light. But, under sun light the Chloroplast is much,
much faster, because of the use of a smaller cap. The real gain is in torque.
The Chloroplast can twist cheaper, stronger motors with ease. The Chloroplast
can be tuned down to pop under artificial light as well, but I really like
the kick of the higher voltages. And lets not forget that "piggy back"
capability of the Chloroplast. The best of both worlds would be a trim pot to
adjust the engine to light conditions. Hey Wilf, is there an automatic way to
do this? Seems to me that a photodiode light bridge could automatically
adjust the voltage level resistance. Whatcha think O swami of the solar cell?
Your highness of hysteresis. The czar of the circuit. OK, I'm done.

See ya,

7816 Thu, 18 Nov 1999 07:51:25 +0100 [alt-beam] Re: Brain energy (was absorbsion circuit) beam@sgiblab.sgi.com Thomas Pilgaard Nielsen I am a volunteer at the center of sense- and motor-skill interaction as
a subject to experimental pain studies at the university of Aalborg.
They've successfully implanted small tube-like devices in the arm of a
paralysed man which gave him the ability of moving his arm again. The
device reads and interprets signals from the nervous system and somehow
changes that into movement by forcing the muscles to react to the
stimuli. It was very interesting.

Cheers

7818 Thu, 18 Nov 1999 07:07:32 -0800 [alt-beam] Re: 74xx240 problems and solutions "'beam@sgiblab.sgi.com'" Wilf Rigter R3 is added as an option only if you suspect HF oscillation usually
determined by erratic motion and high power when adjusted to operate on the
edge of the powersmart mode. R3 goes into the leg opposite to R2. In the V2
schematic the position of R2 and C2 where swapped and then R3 was added.

Use 1 M pots that are shown only if you don't have the larger ones. Notice
that with the smaller pots the cap value goes up.

One note about the operation of the HLO not covered very well in the
tutorial: Depending on the setting or R1, the frequency of HLO oscillation
at the midpoint can more strongly affected by the resistance of the
photobridge and the part of R1 between the photobridge and the inverter A
input than by the resistance of the part of R1 from inverter A output to
input. The lower resistance part of R1 dominates.
