Hi Jim,
Ian's explanation is essentially correct. The first bot I saw made to go into
a car was on Ian's site and I stated that on my site. The term "Carbot" is my
invention, as is the suction cupped, legged variety of in the car robot. You
can use it all you like, and I look forward to seeing your work. I am
planning to produce kits in the near future, so no commercial use of the term
or designs. I am also doing a tutorial on how to build a simple Carbot and
will post it as time allows. I have gotten a truckload of e-mails asking when
the tutorials and kits are going to be ready. All I can say is, hopefully
very soon. Kits are taking longer than I expected because of lag time in
getting the solar cells (FYI, you would NOT believe how much they cost
wholesale). I will be putting up a site, or possibly a page, that will offer
finished bots, kits, and solar cells for sale. All at very fair prices, I am
really tired of paying through the nose for these things. Aren't you?

See ya,
Jim

I was just curious, while we're on the subject, how do carbots stand up to
the heat in a car? I'm in Oklahoma, and the midday sun tends to cook stuff
left near the windows. Winter's coming, so it shouldn't be a problem for a
while, but I'm still curious.
