Well, they are in your case. The only difference it will make is that you
have to twist the knob the other way, if you get it wrong. Sort of like
going anticlockwise to turn the volume up, if you know what I mean.

In your case, it really doesn't matter, so just stick it in the way that's
most convenient for you.

>2) Just what exactly does a Digital Multi-meter do?

Well, it's a multimeter that can measure voltage, resistance, and usually a
couple of other things like diode voltage, current, capacitance, etc.

The nice thing is that this type of multimeter is that it is digital - so
you don't have to get the leads around the right way to measure voltage, and
some digital multimeters have a touch-hold button so you can take a
measurement, hit the hold button, and then have a good look at the value you
have 'captured'. Most also can auto-range so that you don't have to know
what level of voltage you're measuring - you can measure .01 volts and 240
volts without changing a switch. Analog meters can't do this. They have a
readout much like the readout on a calculator or a digital watch. This
means that they are a bit slower than analog meters, and don't have quite as
much resolution, but the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages, IMHO.

I have two Digital multimeters (Fluke 83 and Fluke 12) and both work very
well. It was a big step up from my old analog meter!

7103 Wed, 27 Oct 1999 09:43:09 +0200 [alt-beam] Site and URL update. PLEASE READ. "'beam@sgiblab.sgi.com'" "Van Zoelen, Bram AA SSI-TSEA-352" Gents,

Personal reasons force me to make this change. My present website will be
down [and out] in not so long time. To be more precise, i will unplug my
site at 01-01-2000.

However, i have found a new location where all my files are stored so
nothing is lost. The new URL is already up and active. So please update your
bookmarks from

http://www.xs4all.nl/~vsim

to

http://vsim.freeservers.com or
http://beam.to/vsim

My E-mail will change to from
vsim@xs4all.nl

to

vsim@mail.com or
beam@vsim.freeservers.com

whatever you like
Again, these change will not be active before Jan 2000! So don't panic.

Bram

7104 Wed, 27 Oct 1999 10:10:56 +0200 [alt-beam] Transistor database "'beam@sgiblab.sgi.com'" "Van Zoelen, Bram AA SSI-TSEA-352" Gents,

I recently found a DOS database program [which will run under W95 and NT]
that will show many transistor type, their pin layout, characteristics,
replacement types and field to use for.

I hope this is of any help

Look at my robotics page for TORBASE.EXE

to be a good introduction.

www.cs.tcd.ie/courses/baict/bac/jf/labs/scope/index.html

And for those who want to look at tutorials on various electronics
related topics:

http://www.iserv.net/~alexx/lib/tutorial.htm

Hope this helps.
