Ok, for PCB etching I know I need the following: ferric acid, toner design, copper clad, and an iron. What else do I need tom make an iron on PCB?

6825 Sun, 17 Oct 1999 16:57:50 -0400 [alt-beam] How to decode escap motor codes? beam@sgiblab.sgi.com Bob Shannon Does anyone know how to decode escap models and codes?

I have just gotten some beautiful escap motors with integrated encoders.
Looking at the escap web site, I have not yet found the info on this particular
motor and gearbox. These may well be custom made rather than off-the-shelf
escap's...

My motors are marked:

escap (r) M16.16
M11 207 C16 54 0

Lenght is 42 mm, 16 mm in diameter. There is a date code of 11.91

There is a small PCB on the back of the motor with 6 connections. Pins 1 and
6 are for the motor, and the remaining 4 pins are for the internal encoder.

(Probably +5 in, ground, and 2 quatrature outputs?)

For my application, I really need to use that encoder. Is anyone familiar with
these little gems?

At a guess, I'd be tempted to think that these are 54:1 ratio motors, maybe with
a 16 count per rotation encoder. Rather than risk messing one up, I'd like to
see the spec's on these things. (clearly NOT walker motors I know).

From what I can figure from the escape web site, there are only 2 16 mm diameter
motors, and the longer of them is 28 mm. The motor section of my gearmotors
is 30 mm long, but there is an encoder attached.

So this looks a lot like a 16 N 28 series motor. The datasheet for this motor
says that its available with encoders and gearboxes, but it does not mention
the M16 designation. No M16 gearbox is listed in fact.

16 of these had been snapped up before I found the few remaining at the MIT
flea market today. (they are not for sale) I grabbed the last 4, at $10 each, and asked the vendor if he had any more. Alas, these were the last he knew of.

If anyone has an older escap databook, I'd really love to get the specs for these!
