Not much good for BEAM I'm afraid. These 74F240 chips normally run hot at 5V
and 100ma so forget solar or even battery. Moreover the input current is too
high and the output voltage does not swing rail to rail. Altogether a
"writeoff" most hobby applications. The modern replacement is the 74AC240 (if
you can get it) which is almost perfect for BEAM.
