Hi all esspecially dave,

I would like to know whats the best way to make and design a walkers
leg...in the miller tutorial he just mentioned about being
symetrical...which means all the contact points must be touching at the same
axis....but he didnt mentioned anything about central gravity of the walker
i think.....but i heard someone who build dave's scoutwalker 1.1 that inside
the manual dave uses a 'x' marked on a square paper to do it....dave i am
quite blur here...could explain your way in making the best legs for a two
motor walker or maybe the ones which makes the walker have the right way of
walking..thanks a lot everyone

Jeez, don't I have the manual for the SW1 online YET?!? Let me fix that.
It'll explain everything much better. Gimme a few days...

As I said on the website, they're attracted to light, but repelled to light
of too high intensity. I.e. they'll go towards a light, but not get to
close (reversing direction). The red things are actually the 2nd pair of
photodiodes that are used to set the threshold of the "ouch-too bright!"
response. They're painted red, then a small slit is scraped off to let a
fraction of the light in.

Hmmm. Thought I already fixed that. No matter - done now!

Dunno. We have to get the stock in, and see how much it cost first. Should
have something figured out within the week.

>-how do we work those motor driver chips?

They're for BATTERY purposes only. Suck for solar. Download the datasheet
that I just put up as a PDF file under the downloadable section
(http://www.solarbotics.com/downloads.shtml)

We're getting there! Solder is something I forgot to put on the pricelist.
We have an inventory of the "Multicore Hydro-X" solder that Mark uses
almost exclusively (well, me too). It's good stuff, non-irritating citrus
smell when the flux burns, and washes up with water. $1 for 10'. Will have
it on the orderform when the servos go up. As for the rest of the
kit...eventually!

YES. Well, the miniball schematic is in the miniball PDF file. Go get it!

YES. Will have to get to work on that...

>once again, great work. You've been really flat out answering email.

But ignoring my regular "inbox". Down to only 74 msgs to process! (I hate
doing email 8P)

may i know what kind of material did mark uses for his walker's leg and why
does he use it....it seems so hard to bend from my view.....and whats the
main point in using those spring like legs in the turbot.... and whats the
main idea or rule behind each mark's walker leg design....(i.e symetrical
with what and what and whre does the central of gravity be)

4.)do u mean the only thing which made mark shokbot turn is the brain or is
it something else.why is all the tactile sensor on marks bot becoming
shorter and shorter each time? and where is the chips on this walker
if those 6 similar sections are the bicores why does he need so many for a
two motor walker...by the way where is the mechanical stop in this
walker...thanks a million dave...a lot..

ermm dave i think it is better if u could spend a few minutes typing and
explaining in detail rather than showing us the manual....as your way is
different than andrew miller's and so that the beginner here could see which
way to use to get better results...thanks for your time

content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable

Hey cr=FCe:

I'm new to this and looking for a bit of advice. When digging into old tek=
for parts, is there an easy way to identify chips, transistors, capacitors=
, etc? Some sort of part number resource? I've had little success with IC=
Master and Digi-Key searches, but may not have tried hard enough. Just ye=
sterday I got an old IBM 5150 computer at the thrift for $2 (same place I g=
et piles of RC cars for 50=A2). It's loaded with what looks like golden cr=
ap, but how do I identify the pieces? And is it really worth the time to d=
esolder anything more than ICs? Also I'm stoked for the power source for m=
y work bench, though it offers no info (other than the standard "NO USER SE=
RVICABLE PARTS" warning). Any advice on how to hack that into something I =
can use for real? What am I looking at: 5V @ 20A or so? =

Thanks for any help. I've been lurking on this list for only a few days an=
d have already learned a heap. Haven't even hit the archives yet...
