You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

6269 Thu, 30 Sep 1999 19:33:38 -0700 [alt-beam] Mickey Mouse goes BEAM alt-beam@eGroups.com mhenriks@vip.cybercity.dk I just picked up a set of 6 Mickey Mouse wind-up toys for only app.
$7.50 on sale. They contain some neat little gearboxes - just open up
the boxes and remove the wind-up spring and the ratchet gear. There are
additional pinions and crown gears inside these toys. You need to
"reverse" the action of the gearbox (use input axle for output -
springs are low rpm/high torque - electric motors are high rpm/low
torque)Attach a pager motor and you have a nice cheap drive. Adding an
extra reduction gear to the output will give sufficient low rpm for
walker use on 3 volts.

As an alternative use micro servos. 9 gram (app. 1/4 oz) are becoming
very cheap ($15) and have lotsa torque. Great for a mini walker. And a
lot easier to find than BG Motors :-) My only problem is that all my
servos are in my R/C airplanes! (Nice weather: Go fly/Bad weather:
Build robots - it's great to have many hobbies)

BTW: SNAFU - no 1381's found in Europe yet! ROFC :~( But would you
belive: I found a local(!) store that has the full range of Suncerams
at decent prices :-)

Cheers

Michael
