In the past, I have used a 9v transistor battery with a 7805 regulator. The
package itself is fairly small and supplies more than enough power to the
walker. I built that one over a year and a half ago and it still scoots
around quite energetically. Another of my walkers uses a 6v camera battery
(again with a 7805 reg.) everything is housed inside an old PC mouse shell.
That one is still chuggin' along after about a year as well.
