try www.golden.net/~amiller/circuit.htm im not sure if it still
exists... hopefully this is what youre lookin for.

6152 Sun, 19 Sep 1999 16:48:59 -0700 (PDT) [alt-beam] how does stryder walk? and other ponderings... beam@sgiblab.sgi.com Evan Dudzik im just wondering how a stryder walks, does anyone
have a video? or a
good explanation? also, i know its been asked a
million times, but how
can you make a two motor walker turn? and how can
you make a 3 motor
walker turn? im just wondering, because i would
like to make some walkers.

6154 Sun, 19 Sep 1999 20:31:08 -0500 [alt-beam] Re: 3 motor bicore walker beam@sgiblab.sgi.com Richard Piotter Actualy, I beleve bicores could easily drive a 5 motor walker! I could
probably even control my Spyder frame with a whole lotta bicores! :)

Also, I was at a "build fest" at Mark Dalton's place last Saturday. I
was working on a Unicore and testing it on Megavore. We popped one of
them Maxon Motors I got from MECI... HOLY COWS!!! They only ran on only
9 mA!!! The stall current was under 50 mA!!! I can drive them from ONE
pair of inverters on a 74HCT240! I was impressed! Anyway, it can go
forward, turn left, right, and reverse. I'm still expirimenting with
phototropic behavior. I think my photodiodes are trash. I'm going to
paint the backs and see if that helps. I also need to buy trim pots to
adjust the thing. Interesting device though!

6155 Mon, 20 Sep 1999 01:00:09 PDT [alt-beam] 3 motor walker so far so good beam@sgiblab.sgi.com "grant mckee" I have just finished breadboarding the "brains" so far everything worked
great, even the values I estimated for the motors. And the Idea that you
could reverse the front and back motors instead of just the waist motor
worked too. one Difference I did make tho was the bicore that drove the
waist motor I changed to a 74AC240 instead of a 74HCT240, gives that motor a
little more current translates into higher stepping, after watching some of
Mark T's walkers go (well alot of them anyhow) I saw how agressive those
things are quite interesting to watch; must be for all those tv shows to
film them.

Seems that pulse length increases when you swap out a 74HCT240 with a
74AC240, hmmm

I was planning on freeforming this circuit (yikes 4 20 pin chips)perhaps to
be ErEtE (suppose to sound like elite) or maybe because I dont think this
would fit on a small perfboard easily or pehaps to cut down weight, whatever
I would still like to be able to make my own gold plated pcb's

Im interested to know how the Lamprey idea of flow vs. fight worked out,
havent really heard anything

reverse a Lamprey?

6157 Mon, 20 Sep 1999 10:51:25 PDT [alt-beam] RPB 1.0, an Idea beam@corp.sgi.com "Jim Cook" Hi,

I just got around to building the magbot kit I got like 2 months ago.
The kit is cool, And I love how the light glitters off the wing.

But I was sitting there watching it "pulse" with life while looking at the
Price list page at solarbotics. When I got an Idea.

If I mount 2 magbot cores with crossed solar panels in 1 half of a mini-ball
sphere, And mount the 3 magnets on to a flat flexible "foot" I would have a
rolly polly bot.

Now I am an amateur so if there is anyone who would like to help or give
advice I would be very thankful and give you credit on my poorly designed
rearly hit home page.

P.S. Dave where Did you get those Rear Earth Magnets? and are there surplus
for sale through Solarbotics?

Interesting idea! I have been rolling the mechanics around in my head, and I
think a "baby stepper" would be more directional and controllable. Even
highly positively phototropic. I might give it a try if I ever get the time.
BTW, you can get rare earth magnets at Radio Shack and, I think, All
Electronics and Electronics Warehouse.

because i just built an anazingly powerful magbot but to do the 6 inch jump like
it should do it needs good magnets.
