Subject: [alt-beam] Floor Monkey

Well, I guess it sounds pathetic that I would have postponed finishing
Floor Monkey for so long, but it's finaly running!!! I got the chips
needed, the battery cases, the epoxy, the wires, and threw them all
together. Floor monkey now properly seeks light (well, actualy darkness,
but When I add the trim pot for tuning, I'll reverse the eye wires). it
works very well. I've replaced the coat hangar wire tail with a steel
shaft with a rubber disk screwed into the end. it moves great, and makes
a wonderful sound when it moves. I have my digital camera here, so I'll
add the pictures. I have a lot to do, being the first week (day infact)
of school.

I also built a Photopopper that works fairly well! I'm considering
upgrading the panel to the large panel. Anyone know how much performance
increase that lager panel provides? I'll have to just expiriment with it
myself. I finaly have some robots other than walkers to brag about! (:

I was at a BEAM "build meeting" done by Mark Dalton last Saturday. It
was great. It's amazing how much you can do when motivated! I also saw
some cool stuff there! those flashing whatchamacallits, hextiles, those
realy high quality escap motors that seem to get talked about on
occasion, and some cool SMT stuff!!! Less than a square inch for a
bicore, microcore, or motor driver. I think there was an Nu type board
too! It's all old circuits, but small as heck!!! I wish SMT wasn't such
a pain though!!! There was even new stuff, but we couldn't touch. Still
under development. As much as I'd love to try it out, I guess Mark T
knows what he's doing. I realy am looking forward to the next meeting. I
just got a timed UV exposure deal for use with photoresist boards. Mark
D mentioned working with PCBs the next time there is a meeting. I'm
going to try to fix that thing up and see if I can't learn how to easily
do photoresist PCBs! If I can get it to work right, I may print up a
sheet of my own personal "hextile" style boards. It'd be nice to be able
to print a PCB off my computer, throw it over the PCB, set the exposure
timer, and then etch. It'd be WAY better than dry transfers!!!

Foor Monkey uses a basic 74HCT240 based Bicore. The sensors are a pair
of CDS (light dependant resistor) cells. They are currently lower
values, and the robot's motor produces a great sounding humming noise
that changes depending on light levels. I used a MAXON motor from MECI.

You can have a look at :

The Converter's paradise
http://home1.2.sbbs.se/jsl/index.htm

I did a quick check and i saw something about AVI ---> TGA. So from there
you can go to any outer format.

Possible solutions are:
AVI2TGA.ZIP
GIFSETUP.EXE
ST.ZIP
ST95.ZIP
TRUE2GIF.ZIP

Regards,
Bram

pic, just freeze your avi in the desired frame (not maximized) and press
alt-PrintScreen.

Then, you can continue as jclark said. But don't expect it to be a great
quality. There must be programs that can grab frams and save it seperately.
You have a movie-editor videocard? It probably came with some software for
that.

Best,
Arno

Assuming you're using windows, pause the scene, fullscreen it hit Screen> open a picture editing program and hit V

save as you need. Quality might be low so you could toy with it to sharpen
it. depends on your program

I guess it would work similarly with other OS. don't know.
