Its wire that contracts when heated, I happan to have some, mine activates at
about 90*C. Its very neat stuff, there is a walker that uses nothing but this
muscle wire, and the mars robot used some of this stuff

Thats kinda like what I was thinking, execpt for the hovering, I doubt we
can make that happan useing a candle for power. But maybe that type of bot
would be possable useing a battery and a lamp, but how would you get it to
follow you?

5613 Tue, 10 Aug 1999 09:13:38 +0200 [alt-beam] Building my first photovore arno.jansen@superconsult.nl Here's the situation:

I want to make my first photovore. I got the list from Chiu's site, and I
like the aesthetics from beckingham's site. So I think I can get all the
parts (although the 1381's are hard to get here, suggestions???) except for
the solar cells. What are the specs of the solar cell used on the
photopopper ??

I can order these SunCeram2 cells, but Chiu's tutorial says "solar cell that
can output at least 3.5V", is that nominal or "unloaded" (sorry for my
English, for dutch readers: onbelaste spanning)?? As far as I can see on the
pics the cells must be around 2.5x2.5 cm, so It's probably the smallest on
the list below…

Nominal Voltage nominal current Dimensions (mm)
1.8V 3.45V 16.4 mA 17.3 mA 24x33 << it's one of
1.8V 3.45V 31.3 mA 33.0 mA 24x66 << these I think.
3,2 V 5,52 V 41,7 mA 43,9 mA 37x82
6,4 V 11,00 V 41,7 mA 43,9 mA 74x82
16,0 V 26,00 V 35,0 mA 36,8 mA 162,5 x 73 <- way too big ;)

Can ayonebody help me?

Thanks,
Arno
