Subject: [alt-beam] sensor idea

ive been trying to improve on a few of my photopopers and i got this idea
for a sensor. It may not be a new one but i thought i would run it by you
guys.
Is there a way to make a sensor trigger when the tension is let off?? my
idea was to make my bot turn away from the edge of a table. ive done a few
test but the results weren't to good.
if anyone nows how to do this my bot would appreciate it,( the other day one
of my bots meet the floor, ouch:-)
well thanx guys
blake

Yes, you can do this with a little bit of electronics. First thing that
comes to mind is to set it up like this: connect the switch do that the
'output' goes low when it is pressed and high when it is relieved. Then you
can simply connect the output to the input of a basic Nv-neuron. Like this
the output of the Nv-neuron will go low for some time (dependent on the
RC-constant) after the switch is relieved. This can be made with reversed
voltage-levels as well; you should be able to do this.

Note: when a switch is pressed this may cause some noise on the wires: it
is like the switch is released and pressed for a couple of times (because
of the mechanical connection) and this can take several milli seconds. This
will ruin the effect of the circuit I proposed to you so you have to do
something with a capacitor. Or use a Nu-neuron instead of the Nv-neuron.

I'm sure you can work it out. If not just mail me.

Wouter Brok.

how would i use a Nu-neuron?(ill probibly try the capacitor but i want to
look into all the posible solutions)

mechanicly. For this use very flexible springy wire like a small wound
guitar string. What you want to do is angle your sensor so that when you
set your bot down it will bend the wire up a little. Now put your other
contact under that wire. When you lift up your bot they should make
contact but set it down, the sensors will hit the ground and bend up and
won't make contact with the other contact. Hope this helps.
