Subject: [alt-beam] Solar cell v. doubler

I know I intimated I wouldn't be working on the design any more,
but I did a bit of timkering.

I got better results with a 10K resistor for the oscillator (not
100K). Also, the 0.047F cap only seems to charge to about 3.x volts on
its own, though I measure 6+ volts at the output. Clearly more work is
needed. I'll try with different solar cells, too. Maybe I just need a
cell that provides more current. Wish I had an o-scope.

Anyway, if anyone is just joining this, you can see the simple cct
at http://diehumans.anubis.ab.ca/proj/vdoubler/vdoubler.gif

R1 should be 10K, and not 100K as the schematic shows. If
anyone tries something similar, I'd be interested in hearing about
it.
