It'll be quite some time....
I am a long way from true legged robots. Right now I have all I can do
to handle simple wheeled robots. I have a lot of mechanical skills to
obtain and many many more tools to buy before building any kind of leg
more complex than a bent wire.... This is where I think BEAM ideas
will help *me* the most... in articulated appendages and reflex systems.
Robotics is a very new hobby to me. I've got a long road ahead
so I do a lot more dreaming right now than actual building.
But I've also learned so much from my first simple differentially
steered 2-wheel PIC bot.
If you are curious about the 8-pin PICs take a look at the 12CXXX family
from Microchip. http://www.microchip.com
You could look them up in your Digi-Key catalog too.

Its the creative minds here that make BEAM great, not long-winded
arguments about philosophy. Creativity should always be un-bounded.
