Agreed. Freeforming has it's limits. I'm not knocking PCBs. As a matter of
fact, I have been playing with PCBs as a method of incorporating more
artistic design elements into my bots. PCBs have the potential to become much
more than just traces and holes. The traces themselves have the potential of
being an artistic medium in themselves. This, combined with mailable
substrates and three dimensional construction, could lead to some very
interesting aesthetic results. Kind of a marriage of PCB design and
freeforming. Tilden does this to a certain degree on some of his earlier
bots, but I think the technique has far more potential. Hopefully, I can get
some of my ideas made into boards that I can incorporate into my work.
Assuming, of course, that I can find a cheap way to manufacture them.
