Subject: [alt-beam] Here's a nice source for small motors/question about shrinkwrap...
Hi there,
I found a small source of small motors tonight-tear open a broken CDrom
once. The one that I had was an Acer8X and some other 24X. Inside of the 8X
I found a nice little motor which can be found at
www.innernet.net/jlk/uploads/motors.jpg. This motor was used to drive the
read head back and forth. Another motor(not in the picture) found inside was
a walkman-style motor. Lastly in the 24X there was a motor identicle in size
to the first motor found inside the 8X. This was used to drive the CD tray.
I would have never thought that I could find such nice motors in 'em! The
numbers on the motors are both different and I have yet to look them up for
spec's. They both run off a 1.5V AA battery and sweet off a 3.5V NiCD.
Havn't tried them in a BEAM ckt yet as it's still early.
Oh, I do have a quick question regarding the shring-tubing. I bought some of
this at RatShack, brought it home and was suprised to find that the
heat-shrink felt like plastic, not rubber as I remember it. When you shrink
it it turns to hardened plastic which sucks. Where can I get the *real*
heatshrink that we're accustomed to?
Thanks, and enjoy!
