Speaking of gear motors, BGMicro's "new products" page
features this:

Robot builders, start your motors!
These Mabuchi motors and Molon
gearboxes were removed from working
equipment. They are a robot builders
dream. Good size, good torque, and
good speed. The Mabuchi RS-380SH
operates from 3~9 VDC, with 7.2v
being the nominal. In a stall, the torque is
840g.cm, which means you can't stop
the gearbox with your fingers unless
you are some heavy duty gearbox
stopper. The gearbox measures 3"x
2-3/4". The drive wheel is 4-5/8" in
diameter, and can be removed. Slip an
"O" ring over the wheel and drive
away. At 3 volts, the gearbox turns 4 RPM,
and at 9 volts, 15 RPM. The motor is
reversible. MOT1011.......$7.95
